The death toll from a magnitude-7.5 earthquake that struck western Colombia around 7:30 a.m. on August 10 has risen to 169. The tremor lasted at least 30 seconds. Strong shaking was felt in the capital, Bogota, where alarms sounded. The quake has left several hundred people injured.
