A CMG reporter was headed to Bogota's El Dorado International Airport on August 10, hoping to reach Cali, one of the cities hit hard by Colombia's magnitude-7.5 earthquake. At the time, several airports near the epicenter had temporarily suspended operations, while landslides and rockfalls disrupted road travel. Later, after waiting more than five hours at the airport, the reporter boarded a flight to Cali, but the plane was forced to turn back.
