As part of CGTN’s special series Inside El Niño, this report turns to Ethiopia, where meteorologists are closely monitoring the developing climate pattern amid forecasts of below-normal rainfall across northern, northeastern, central and eastern regions during the critical June-to-September rainy season. 

With millions of farmers relying on these seasonal rains for crop production, the prospect of delayed or irregular precipitation, more frequent dry spells and reduced soil moisture raises serious concerns for yields, water availability and overall food security. While western areas may see closer to average or above-average rainfall and some early rains have already arrived, the shifting patterns underscore growing unpredictability for agricultural communities.
