Twelve people were injured after a vessel caught fire at a shipyard in east China's Fujian Province on Thursday, local authorities said.

The fire broke out around 1:09 p.m. at Century Huahai (Fujian) Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in Fu'an City's Gantang Township.

The fire has since been brought under control. According to preliminary figures, 12 people were injured and have been taken to the hospital.

Local emergency response and health authorities have arrived at the scene to handle the incident. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
