China has officially launched its first artificial intelligence (AI) super cluster powered by 100,000 domestically produced computing cards, marking a major leap in national computing infrastructure, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
The cluster went live at the Zhengzhou node of China's national supercomputing network, in the central province of Henan. Combining scientific and intelligent computing, the cluster represents a forward-looking deployment for potential future computing needs.
Other nodes across the country are also expanding their computing capacity. In the Greater Bay Area, a new 10,000-card cluster has come online to support the training of next-generation AI models.
