A gas outburst at a coal mine in Lianyuan City, central China's Hunan Province, has left seven miners missing and one injured on Friday morning, according to local authorities.

Forty-four of the 52 miners working underground at the time of the incident were safely evacuated.

Emergency responders have been dispatched to the site to carry out rescue operations. The cause is under investigation.
