China has completed its first marine wave slamming experiment in Tianjin. Researchers used a huge wave tank to simulate violent ocean waves hitting ship structures. The test was designed to aid the development of safer designs for liquefied natural gas carriers. Data collected from the experiment will be handed over to shipyards to support independent vessel development.
