With hundreds still missing after Colombia's magnitude-7.5 earthquake, rescue teams repeatedly halted work and called for silence around collapsed buildings in Cali. Reducing noise and vibrations allowed rescuers and sensors to detect possible cries or movement beneath the rubble.

At least 273 people were killed and more than 3,800 others injured, while 377 remain missing as of August 13.
