China will provide Colombia with emergency cash assistance and humanitarian relief supplies to support the country's disaster response and reconstruction, China International Development Cooperation Agency spokesperson Tang Ying said Saturday.

More than 280 people have been killed and thousands injured after a magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10. Over 12,000 homes have been destroyed across several cities, with hospitals and schools among the damaged buildings. The quake is believed to be the country's largest this century.
