Heavy rain from Typhoon Dolphin since Monday caused rivers to burst their banks across Henan, and emergency crews scrambled to seal three breaches.

On Wednesday night, a 40-meter breach opened on the Beiru River in Jiaxian County, Pingdingshan City. It was sealed by the next night.

On Thursday, a 10-meter gap appeared on the Qingyi River in Xuchang's Yanling County. Then, around 11 p.m., the Jialu River burst its bank in Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City, with fast currents tearing the gap to more than 110 meters.

Crews are still working to close the final two.
