Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), paid tribute to revolutionary martyrs at a revolutionary martyrs cemetery in Pyongyang Friday, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Kim, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, said the unwavering revolutionary faith and indomitable fighting spirit of soldiers in their resistance against Japanese military aggression have provided lasting vitality for the DPRK people's journey towards building a prosperous and powerful country, according to KCNA.
August 15 marks the 81st anniversary of the Korean Peninsula's liberation from Japanese colonial rule.
