On the night of August 12 and into the following early morning, the Perseid meteor shower cast its brilliance over Zhongwei, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, located in northwest China. Perched at the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert, this remote stretch of land offered unobstructed views and some of the darkest skies in the region – a haven for stargazers from far and wide.

Above, the Milky Way gleams; below, endless dunes rolled into the night. Every few moments, a meteor darted across the firmament, briefly igniting the darkness before fading. Visitors sprawled on the warm sand, their faces upturned, savoring each fleeting flash. Join us as we turn the lens toward this desert night, where the ancient rhythm of the cosmos met the timeless silence of the Tengger.
