Rare ibis signals healthier Yunnan wetland in southwest China

A rare black-headed ibis has been recorded for the first time in Menglian County, southwest China's Yunnan Province. Its appearance is seen as a sign that conservation efforts are working: wetlands are getting cleaner, food sources are more abundant and habitats are healthy enough to attract more waterbirds and rare species to the area.
