A record-breaking wildfire in eastern Belgium had scorched about 2,700 hectares by Saturday evening, forcing around 600 residents to evacuate, according to local authorities and media reports.
Reinforcements were brought in from across the country to fight the blaze that broke out in the High Fens nature reserve near the German border and quickly spread, with helicopters and water bombers flying in from across the EU to help.
