On August 17, workers deep beneath the sea replaced shield machine cutters on the world's longest undersea high-speed rail tunnel – a high-pressure job that put China's own hyperbaric life-support technology to the test. Once open, the tunnel will slash travel time between the coastal cities of Ningbo and Zhoushan in east China's Zhejiang Province to just 26 minutes.
