US President Donald Trump said Monday that Tehran wants to reach an agreement with Washington but is unwilling to accept the kind of deal he considers necessary, as a 60-day deadline for negotiations between the two sides expired. Trump did not elaborate on the talks, repeating that Washington's objective was to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Trump had earlier threatened to bomb Oman if it "got in the way" of efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Asked later about the warning, Trump said Oman had not "behaved very well" but could be handled "very easily." Neither Iran nor Oman had publicly responded to Trump's latest remarks.
