Two people were killed in a shooting incident at Ateneo de Zamboanga Grade School, a private school in Zamboanga City, southern Philippines, on Tuesday, according to local media. 

The two casualties are both students, ⁠one of ⁠whom ⁠was the ​gunman, ​Mayor ‌Khymer Adan ‌Olaso told ⁠DZMM radio.

The Philippine Department of Education said it was closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the affected school to provide assistance and support to students, families, teachers and school personnel.
