A magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck off South Nias, North Sumatra, Indonesia, at 1:02 p.m. local time on Tuesday, according to the country's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 29 kilometers and did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, the BMKG said.
