According to Chinese mythology, every Qixi Festival, which falls on the seventh day of the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, star-crossed lovers separated by the Milky Way, are allowed to meet. Magpies form a bridge spanning the river of stars so the pair can reunite for one night. May the night be long enough for all lovers – and may no one tear them apart.
