China on Thursday urged relevant parties to resolve tensions over Iran through political and diplomatic means after US President Donald Trump announced what he called "the most crushing economic operation" against the Islamic Republic.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a press conference when asked about Trump's announcement on Wednesday, saying that sanctions and pressure would not help resolve the issue.
China called on all relevant parties to take responsible steps and seek a political and diplomatic solution, Lin said.
