An attacker with a sword wounded several people at a high school in central Sweden on Friday, authorities said, with local media reporting the suspect was shot by police.

The assailant entered Brinellskolan and wounded several people, the Fagersta municipality said in a statement, adding that the attacker had been detained.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that a person wielding a machete had been shot by police.
