Militants kidnapped and killed scores of people in an attack during Friday prayers in central Nigeria's Niger state, AFP reported, citing a local resident and lawmaker.

Lakurawa militants "slaughtered some of our people" and "kidnapped many," said Jibril Ahmad, from Dikera village, adding some were able to escape when another militant group, known as Mahmuda, started clashing with the Lakurawa.
