Asia's largest offshore crude oil processing platform topped out

The main structure of Asia's largest offshore crude oil processing platform, the Huizhou 19-6 platform, was topped out on Saturday in Zhuhai, southern China's Guangdong Province.

Once completed, the platform will support the development and production of a large integrated oilfield with reserves exceeding 100 million tonnes in the Pearl River Mouth Basin.

The Huizhou 19-6 platform is a three-story, eight-legged crude oil processing platform. Its topside structure stands about 85 meters tall, roughly the height of a 30-story residential building, and covers an area equivalent to nearly 13 standard basketball courts. It has a designed floatover weight of around 29,000 tonnes.

Following the completion of the main structure, the project will move into the next phase, including pipeline installation, cable laying and equipment commissioning.

The platform will serve the Huizhou 19-6 oilfield, China's first large-scale offshore oilfield with reserves exceeding 100 million tonnes discovered in deep to ultra-deep clastic rock formations.

Once operational, it is expected to support the efficient development of the oilfield and strengthen China's energy supply security.
