As summer heat lingers in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, manufacturers in Taizhou City are gearing up for the winter season overseas.
In Taizhou's Luqiao District, two local companies have rolled out upgraded traditional snow boots with built-in heating devices, responding to demand for extra warmth in colder overseas markets. The heated boots come with rechargeable heating functions offering three temperature settings of 35°C, 45°C and 55°C. The upgraded product has proven popular in European and North American markets, and the companies expect their combined annual output to double to more than 100,000 pairs this year.
The winter product boom extends beyond footwear. Winter sports equipment makers in Wenling, also in Taizhou, are seeing a surge in export orders for ski goggles, snowboards and helmets. With their lighter weight, chic designs and environmentally friendly materials, these products are sold in markets including the United States, Britain, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Local manufacturers are preparing for the upcoming winter season in the Northern Hemisphere while also supplying markets in the Southern Hemisphere, where winter is currently underway. One local company is producing more than 10,000 pairs of ski goggles a day, while snowboard orders have already been booked through March next year.
