Over 1,000 demoiselle cranes have gathered at a restored reservoir in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, resting and feeding before their long migration across the Himalayas to India. With better water management and richer vegetation, the reservoir has become a safer stopover for migratory birds before the journey ahead.
