From "Made in China" goods shipped from ports and docks to every corner of the world, to a dazzling array of "global products" on Chinese supermarket shelves, China's foreign trade continues to power the world economy through its dynamic flow of imports and exports.
A survey conducted by CGTN among netizens worldwide shows that 87% of respondents believe that in a world fraught with uncertainty, China – acting simultaneously as a "super buyer" and a "super seller" – is injecting strong certainty into global trade.
As a "super seller," China provides the world with high-quality, affordable and reliably stable supply. In the survey, smart devices, electric vehicles and daily necessities produced in China ranked as the top three categories of interest among netizens.
A total of 89.2% of respondents believe that Chinese exports are competitive in the global market. Some 84.7% say that leading technology and high cost-effectiveness are the core competitiveness of Chinese goods, and 80.4% agree that China's exports are increasingly benefiting countries around the world.
Notably, 80.2% of respondents observe that most products exported by China are goods that other countries cannot produce or can only produce at much higher costs – precisely the natural result of international division of labor and comparative advantage.
As a "super buyer," China's vast market is becoming an opportunity for the world, and the Chinese market has become one of the scarcest resources globally.
In 2025, China ranked as the world's second-largest importer for the 17th consecutive year and served as a major export destination for nearly 80 countries and regions. In the first seven months of this year, China's imports from more than 150 trading partners achieved positive growth.
In the survey, 89.8% of respondents believe that China has created substantial employment and tax revenue for a growing number of countries. Some 85.9% say that China is actively expanding imports and promoting balanced trade development.
In May this year, China fully implemented zero-tariff treatment for the 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China, and 80.1% of respondents applauded this move, viewing it as a reflection of China's sincerity in further opening up and sharing market dividends.
A total of 85.7% of respondents believe that the dividends of China's consumption upgrading are spreading globally, helping more developing countries find broad market outlets for their distinctive products.
As many as 90.9% of respondents agree that China is helping more resource-based and export-oriented countries develop their economies, vigorously promoting a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.
The survey was published on CGTN's English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms, with 8,864 netizens participating in the vote and expressing their views within 24 hours.
