As the autumn migration season begins, Jiangsu's Tiaozini Wetland in east China is welcoming both familiar visitors and rare new arrivals. A spoon-billed sandpiper with an "HU" leg tag has returned, the same bird recorded here 10 years ago. There is also a surprise visitor: a greater yellowlegs, recorded in China for the first time. With stronger wetland protection and restoration, millions of migratory birds now stop at Tiaozini each year to rest, molt and spend the winter.
