Seven people were killed and 152 injured in a fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia's Amur region, while nine people were missing, the plant said on Wednesday.

The Chinese Consulate General in Khabarovsk said it was not immediately able to confirm whether Chinese nationals were among the casualties.

The fire broke out on Tuesday and was extinguished, the plant said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
