The opening ceremony of the 2026 Third Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Senior Officials' Meeting was held in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on Thursday.

This year marks China's third time hosting APEC. The country will hold the APEC Leaders' Economic Meeting in Shenzhen from November 18 to 19. 

The Senior Officials' Meeting serves as a key platform for advancing APEC cooperation and preparing outcomes for the leaders' meeting.

China has hosted two previous APEC Senior Officials' Meetings this year, in Guangzhou, February, and Shanghai in May.
