A Chinese military transport plane was scrambled to support rescue operations after a mudslide hit Gyirong County in Xigaze, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
Operated by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Western Theater Command Air Force, the Y-20 took off from an airport in southwest China at 8:02 a.m. on August 27, carrying a Western Theater Command guidance team. It landed at an airport on the plateau around 10:30 a.m., and the team will continue by road to the disaster area.
