A mudslide hit Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday – and the rescue is underway.
Chen Hongqi, a senior engineer at the Ministry of Natural Resources, says the area's terrain and water conditions are making the operation dangerous.
He warns that unstable slopes, changing upstream water conditions and more rain could trigger secondary disasters. Narrow access roads are also at risk of collapse, landslides and rockfalls.
