An immersive audiovisual art exhibition highlighting cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Malaysia has attracted more than 5,000 visitors from nearly 20 countries and regions since opening in Kuala Lumpur on August 17.

Titled Mountains and Seas, the exhibition explored the connections between landscapes, the ocean, cultural memory, natural ecology and digital technology through a range of digital art forms, including immersive video, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and interactive installations.

The exhibition featured works by prominent Chinese artists, including Xu Bing and Oscar-winning production designer Timmy Yip. Malaysian artists were also represented by works including Lim Kok Yoong's Mountain Echoes, Mountain Shadows, Nadia Mahmud's Ocean Skeletons, Wee Jia Foong's Untitled: (Wind-Water) and Anwar's Nasional.

Organized by Beijing Normal University and Malaysian cultural authorities, the exhibition concluded on August 25.

The organizers said the exhibition brought together diverse artistic practices and emerging digital technologies to reflect the longstanding cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia.
