The residents of villages near a border port struck by a mudslide in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region have all been evacuated, according to Xizang's border inspection authorities.

The mudslide, which occurred on the Nepalese side, struck Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Xizang, on Wednesday morning, leaving three people dead and 558 others missing, including 260 foreign nationals, according to preliminary estimates.

After the mudslide, rescue workers from Xizang's border inspection authorities helped evacuate over 300 villagers from several villages near the port to safer places in Gyirong County.
