Summer won't quit: Chinese cities deploy a cooling blitz

Although autumn has arrived, high temperatures are still hitting parts of China. In Shanxi Province, the cities of Hejin and Linfen have been sweltering under persistent heat, with daily highs averaging above 35 degrees Celsius. To beat the heat, local sanitation teams have deployed dozens of water tankers, mist cannons and street sweepers to spray and sprinkle water across the cities. Cooling operations run from as early as 5 or 6 a.m. to midnight, with routes and frequency adjusted as needed.
