The Guangwu section of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall on the outskirts of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, is drawing visitors from China and abroad with its cool climate and remarkably authentic, ancient appearance.
This "Moon Gate" is one of its most popular attractions. The arched ruin is actually the remains of a centuries-old watchtower, gradually weathered by wind and rain. On clear nights, moonlight shines through the opening, giving the site its poetic name.
