We Talk: Kyrgyz people on how the SCO has changed their lives

Global Stringer

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with the annual summit set to take place soon in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. A CGTN stringer hit the streets of Bishkek to hear from locals about how the SCO has shaped their lives and what they're hoping for from the upcoming summit.

One interviewee said Chinese electric vehicles are now a common sight on the streets and Chinese road signs have become part of the cityscape. For young people, easier access to study abroad has made China feel closer than ever. As the host of the 2026 summit, locals hope to showcase Kyrgyz culture and cuisine to the world and believe SCO cooperation will bring a brighter future to their country.
