Two helicopters carried food, medicine and rescue equipment to the core disaster zone hit by a mudslide at Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Saturday.
Dispatched by an army aviation brigade of the People's Liberation Army Xizang Military Command, the helicopters arrived over the core area at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday and airdropped the supplies to rescue personnel.
The mudslide came after a glacier in Nepal collapsed, sending ice and rock rapidly down the mountainside. The resulting massive debris flow traveled about 22 kilometers to hit Gyirong Port.
