A mudslide struck the Gyirong Port along the China-Nepal border in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Wednesday morning. As of 6 p.m. Saturday, 16 people had been confirmed dead, and 546 others remained missing in Xizang.
Rescue teams are working to reopen the final stretch of road into the core area of Gyirong Port as search and rescue operations continue.
The death toll from flash floods in Nepal has reached 675, with 2,498 others still missing as of Saturday afternoon, according to the local disaster management authority.
