About 590 foreign nationals from 39 countries and regions are still missing after the deadly mudslide in Nepal as per the available data, the Nepali Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

During a press briefing on the mudslide, Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri, spokesperson for Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that so far, 903 bodies have been recovered from the mudslide-hit areas, with over 4,200 people still unaccounted for.

Nepal's diplomatic missions are also constantly sharing and updating verified information and facilitating communication with families and extending any necessary assistance, identification and repatriation procedures, he said.

He also said over 10,000 people have been rescued from the regions, including at least 323 foreign nationals.

In this hour of difficulty, Chhetri said, the Nepali government continues close communication and coordination with its immediate neighbors and the international community, adding that Nepal has received generous rescue support from China, India, Japan, the United States, among other countries and partners.

According to the spokesperson, a preliminary assessment of the needs is underway, and a detailed Post-Disaster Needs Assessment will be carried out for the actual figures for rehabilitation and reconstruction of critical infrastructure, like houses, road networks, bridges and hydropower facilities that have been damaged.

"We anticipate requiring international assistance for rehabilitation and reconstruction," Chhetri said, adding that Nepal would communicate specific requirements later as the assessment progresses.
