Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that multiple military personnel and civilians were killed or injured Sunday night in a "US-Israeli" attack on Iran's southern Larak Island in Hormozgan Province.

Iran responded by attacking US forces stationed in Jordan, according to Iranian state media. The Iranian military targeted "technical and maintenance infrastructure," as well as areas where "enemy fighter jets" were stationed at the King Hussein and Al-Azraq US bases in Jordan, inflicting heavy damage, Iran's Fars news agency reported, citing an IRGC statement.

US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Iran's Larak Island on Sunday, a US official said, marking the first known American strikes on Iran since ‌late July.

Regarding the US strikes, the US official said, "I can confirm that earlier today ‌US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into Strait of Hormuz."

US President Donald Trump said last week that all mines had been detonated or removed from international waters in the Strait of Hormuz, and that Iran had been warned that any ship or boat laying new mines would be destroyed.

The last known US strikes on Iran took place in late July, as the war has entered a stalemate in recent weeks and Washington has threatened to impose costly sanctions on countries supporting Iran.

Several US military leaders have advised Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that prolonging large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening the US military's ability to confront threats elsewhere, including threats to the US homeland, the Washington Post reported, citing people familiar with a recent assessment prepared for the Pentagon chief.
