The first batch of excavators has reached the core search-and-rescue zone of mudslide-hit Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
CGTN reporter Cen Ziyuan is on the ground near the Gyirong Port corridor, where heavy rain and flooding have disrupted access. Rescue teams are navigating deep mud and fast-moving water, using trucks and large rocks to hold back floodwaters and clear the route.
Some rescuers managed to reach the disaster zone but were forced to turn back as weather conditions deteriorated. Meanwhile, crews are clearing the blocked section as efforts continue to fully reopen the route.
