Work continued steadily on the blocked section near the Gyirong Port corridor as of noon on September 1, 2026. 

With only 800 meters go, the entire route is nearly fully reopened.

The Ministry of Emergency Management has deployed 158 professional rescuers from China Anneng, along with 33 units of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders and monitoring equipment, to the disaster-hit section of National Highway G216 in Gyirong County, Xigaze City, Xizang Autonomous Region, southwest China.

The effort has entered its toughest, most critical phase, as rainwater cascading down mountain gullies threatens both crews and the sections already repaired.

Nearly 40 power poles and supporting facilities have been installed as planned to ensure stable and reliable electricity for all follow-up relief operations.
