A deadly mudslide, originating on the Nepal side of the China-Nepal border, struck near Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on August 26, leaving hundreds of people missing.

In the affected area, thick layers of mud have made the search and rescue operation particularly difficult.
