China-Egypt cultural exchange event highlights bilateral cooperation

A cultural exchange event celebrating the 70th anniversary of China-Egypt diplomatic relations was held in Cairo on Tuesday, with multiple media cooperation developments unveiled.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi sent a congratulatory message to the event. Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Media Group (CMG), addressed the gathering.

During the event, CMG and Egyptian national television announced the start of production on a joint feature program that will highlight achievements in economic and trade cooperation, infrastructure development, people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.

CGTN also announced that filming would begin on a documentary interview program. It will invite well-known Egyptian media professionals to visit places including Beijing and Sichuan to explore the driving forces behind China's modernization.

The documentary The Story I Found in China, produced by CGTN, is set to air on Egyptian national television. The documentary features veteran Egyptian actor and Cairo International Film Festival President Hussein Fahmy as its host and observer. He engages in conversations with nine ordinary Chinese people, offering Egyptian audiences an in-depth and authentic look at a multifaceted China.

The event also highlighted growing cooperation between China and Egypt within the film industry.

A Chinese film showcase in Egypt was also launched at the event, featuring screenings of five Chinese films in Cairo.

The event also featured the presentation of a program jointly produced by CMG and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States which highlights cooperation and people-to-people ties between China and Arab countries. The program will be broadcast by mainstream media outlets across the Arab world.
