Sections of the G216 national highway leading to Gyirong Port have been reopened to traffic, after a devastating mudslide cut off the key China‑Nepal border gateway.

In an interview with CGTN, Zhong Wenjun, leader of the China Anneng Group rescue task force, said this was the toughest mission he had ever undertaken as a veteran rescuer. Working with no other viable solutions available, crews built an improvised emergency road by dumping rocks and finally and completed this difficult task.
