A Romeo between two worlds: Chun Wai Chan on ballet, identity and love

For Chun Wai Chan, playing Romeo is more than taking on one of ballet's most iconic roles. The New York City Ballet principal is returning to a story he knows well – but this time, in a version set in 1960s Hong Kong, blending classical ballet with kung fu, mahjong and the city's unique cultural landscape. Born and trained in China before building his career in the United States, Chan says this Romeo offers him something especially personal: the freedom to bring his own cultural identity to the stage. CGTN's Dong Xue sat down with Chan in Beijing.
