During the Asia-Pacific Media Forum, participants joined a field trip to Zhuhai’s 220-kilovolt smart substation and a shared zero-carbon laboratory. There they saw robot dogs, de-icing robots and drones used for power-grid inspection and disaster preparedness.

Among the visitors was Sharachchandra Bhandary, Executive Editor and Senior Correspondent for International Affairs at Nepal’s National News Agency (RSS). Drawing on Nepal’s own experience with floods, landslides and other natural disasters, Bhandary said wider access to technology and equipment could help economies across the Asia-Pacific strengthen resilience. He also highlighted China-Nepal cooperation in disaster response, including information sharing and equipment support, and called for closer regional coordination to match technological solutions with local needs.
