Baicheng County in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has kicked off the harvest of over 43,000 hectares of fresh-eating corn, with mechanized pickers and trucks working nonstop to rush the cobs from fields to nearby processing plants within four hours. Blessed with a cool, selenium-rich soil, the county has already processed over 6,000 tonnes this season, with the full harvest expected to last until mid-October.
