Taiping Ancient Town sits on the steep banks of the Chishui River, where Sichuan meets Guizhou. Its wooden stilt houses climbing the cliffs are a sight to behold, but the town’s true heartbeat comes from its revolutionary history – it was a key battlefield in the Red Army’s legendary Four Crossings of the Chishui River in 1935.

Today, over 250 Red Army heritage sites remain here – command posts, field hospitals, the original ferry crossing – living monuments along the ancient streets. The Sidu Chishui Exhibition Hall holds more than 300 relics, and at night, an immersive live show with holograms and fireworks reenacts the daring campaign right where it happened.
