Chinese delegation for 20th Asian Games formed

The Chinese delegation for the 20th Asian Games was officially formed in Beijing on Friday.

Composed of 1,274 members in total, the delegation includes 815 athletes — 404 women and 411 men — who will compete in 38 sports covering 369 events at the continental multi‑sport meet. 

The athletes have an average age of 24, with competitors born after 2005 accounting for 27% of the squad. The roster features 58 athletes from 17 ethnic minority groups across China. 

A total of 548 athletes will make their Asian Games debut, while 306 have previous Olympic or Asian Games competition experience. 

Thirty‑six Olympic champions from 13 disciplines, including swimming, artistic swimming, badminton, boxing, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, shooting and volleyball, are set to take part in the Games. 

Among them, several athletes have claimed gold medals at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. 

The list includes table‑tennis players Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, divers Chen Yuxi and Wang Zongyuan, gymnast Zou Jingyuan, sprint canoeist Sun Mengya and weightlifter Li Wenwen. 

The 2026 Aichi‑Nagoya Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Japan, where 469 gold medals will be awarded across the competition.
